Legislative Advocacy
Dr. LaMont was appointed to the board of directors of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association (CNDA) in 1998. She
chose to take a sabbatical from her busy practice in May of 2000 to serve as Executive Director of the CNDA and lead the successful
legislative campaign to license NDs in California. Passage of the Naturopathic Doctors Practice Act resulted in the creation
of the Bureau of Naturopathic Medicine within California's Department of Consumer Affairs. Licensure of NDs provides Californians
legal access to the care of licensed naturopathic doctors, and NDs need no longer fear "practicing medicine without a license".
Their established scope of practice in California allows licensed NDs to serve as primary health care providers who treat
acute and chronic conditions, in a prevention-oriented approach to healthcare. For more information on licensure of NDs, click

Dr. LaMont was awarded "Physician of the Year" by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians in 2001 for her leadership
and legislative advocacy.
Education
Dr. LaMont earned her ND degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM)in Portland, Oregon in 1981. She
moved to California and attended Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, where she earned her
Masters in Chinese Medicine in 1986. She has been licensed as an acupuncturist in California since that time. Prior to her
medical training, Dr. LaMont earned a BS in Human Biology from Kansas Newman College. She regularly attends continuing education
events to maintain her licenses as both an ND and acupuncturist.
